Just to round off the month of love, a poetry reading I took part in is now up on Spotify! I’m on around minute 35 but if you have time it’s nice to listen to all of it. The poem I read is the one that won first place in last year’s Wine Country Writers Festival contest.
Falling in Love with Life Again
After Rosemary Wahtola Trommer, Falling in Love with Life on the Equinox
I’m falling in love with life again
Because there is more to love
then I remembered
Because there is pain but
there is no pain in my little toe
or left ear today
Because there is noise
but some of it is good noise
like the raucous sounds of
adult children and small, excited dogs and music
Because there is a fogginess
to my memory but
it’s the kind of fog that softens
the edges of old hurts
and bee stings and falls
and makes the light golden and glowing
Because there is still no time for everything
and yet if I pause
there is time for everything
like one long drawn-out sigh
that holds all the love
that was ever there and ever will be there
and holds me at precisely the now
where the love and the light
and the laughter and the softness
all gather together and here I am
breathing
again
